The Horse is the seventh animal in the 12-year Chinese Zodiac cycle; the birth years of the Horse in the last century include 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, and 2014.

Each coin struck by the Perth Mint is 99.99% gold in proof quality and is available in one, one-fourth, and one-tenth troy ounces. The mint announced that only three thousand individual one troy ounce coins, five thousand individual one-fourth, and one-tenth gold coins are set for release on the market.
